Smoked brisket & garlic chive dumplings

if you ever have some brisket leftover, these are a perfect way to use it up! Brisket is Blair’s favourite food, and dumplings Casey’s. What better mash up than brisket dumplings.

Makes 20 dumplings

  • Ingredients

  • 120g smoked brisket

  • 10g garlic chives thinly sliced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 1 tsp cornflour mixed with water

  • 4 small water chestnuts - diced - these give the dumplings a good crunch!

  • 20 dumpling wrappers (we use the Oriental Cuisine wrappers)

Method

Finely chop your smoked brisket

To make your dumpling filling mix the brisket, garlic chives, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornflour and water chestnut.

When your filling is ready add a spoonful to your dumpling wrapper before sealing the wrapper with water. Have a play around with different folds! It’s a good activity that the kids could join in on.

Once your dumplings are all folded, heat a frying pan with some neutral oil like canola. Place your dumplings in and let them get golden brown on the bottom. Once they’re golden, it’s time to add some water into the pan (just be careful as it can splash up a bit!). Cover with a lid for 3-5 minutes to let the filling heat up and then serve!

We like to serve them with chilli oil and soy. Perfect for lunch, dinner or a snack and we’re pretty sure the whole family will enjoy them.
